What it’s all about

It’s not easy to keep things simple!

Graphic design is something that I love to do. I try to keep my designs simple and easy to use. So while I’m busy trying to keep up with my love for design, I simply have a lot of other things that I do too! And really, my family IS my life – and cooking, cleaning, and teaching them are very important to me. Most of us have many things in life to balance. So even though life is never simple,  I hope what I have to share can make some things a little simpler for you. :)

I guess this all started because I LOVE Pinterest.  Browsing through pins on Pinterest is my favorite thing to do when I have a few minutes to myself.  I love visiting new blogs and reading fun new ways of doing things.  I thought it would be fun to start my own blog and see my own articles pinned on Pinterest!  This will definitely be a learning experience , since I have not done much blogging, and the blogging I have done is usually one or two articles and then I never add anything new.  That was back when blogging was mostly done for the sake of family members so you knew what was going on in each others’ lives.  (A long,  long time ago 😉 )

I have dabbled in web and graphic design, and I love doing it.  This new blog will give me an opportunity to do more of both, and I’m super excited!

The topics on this blog are varied and maybe not very connected, but they are me and about what I love to do.

My Designs
I have designed all kinds of things, from scrapbook page layouts, to home decor, to websites.  I also have a passion for family stories. I would love to easily add stories to all my photos and tell my story in photobooks.  There are so many photobook printing options out there now!  My goal is to create templates with photo layouts and story prompts that will help people tell and share their stories. I will be sharing entire coordinating books-worth of templates that you can use in Photoshop, Photoshop Elements, and other digital scrapbooking software.  I plan to research out the best photobook printing companies so you can get those stories into your hands.

She Simply Designs: printables, svg cutouts, photo page layouts, websitesI’ll also share with you some of my favorite website tips and tricks that I’ve learned over the years.  Lately I’ve found some great FREE website services.  These services can help you design a modern, feature filled, professional website quickly and easily. It’s amazing what you can get for free!

If you’re looking for home decor and gifts, I will be offering free printables and .svg files for vinyl cutters. If you need some vinyl cut for you, I’ll send you over to my mom, who has a vinyl cutting business (CARismaVinyl.com).  She’s got one of those fancy “large-format” cutters that can cut just about anything! If you have a fun idea and need a printable, cutting file, or something else designed, let me know and I’ll see what I can put together!

Cleaning is definitely NOT my favorite thing, it’s just something I seem to have to do everyday, all day, and it’s never done! Any tips I find for making it easier I plan to pass on to you! No one likes to be stuck cleaning all day!

Cooking on the other hand…I have a love/hate relationship with. Sometimes it’s such a pain to get dinner on the table! And finding something that everyone in my family will eat is next to impossible. But every once in a while I find a great recipe and dinner turns out to be a masterpiece (that my family will actually eat) and I really enjoy cooking. Desserts are even more fun – my family will always eat dessert :-) I’ll pass on the recipes that have been hits at my house, and a few that have been passed down for generations in my family.

Little Sprouts Music - classes for ages 0-9My other love is teaching childhood music.  I teach Musikgarten classes in my home (check out my website at LittleSproutsMusic.com!) and I believe in the value of music education for young children.  There are so many educational, emotional, and social benefits!  I’ll share some of my favorite folk songs, dances, finger plays and other fun things you can do with your children. I’ll also share parenting tips I’ve learned along the way as I’ve been raising my four children, who now range in age from 14 to 2.

Whew!  It looks like I’ve got a lot of work to do, so please be patient as I pull it all together.  I hope you’ll enjoy this blogging journey with me!

~ Misty
